Seminar series, part 1: Impact – a strong trend with two sides

24 april 2018 @ 12:15 - 13:45 CEST

To finance and value the creation of social and environmental benefits; Is that the second wave of sustainable investment?

It is clear that many in the wake of the Paris agreement and Agenda 2030 have begun to view sustainable business and sustainable investments through a different lens. It also drives innovation on the financial markets – green bonds, social bonds, blended finance, thematic funds and indices, etc. All based on the idea that by investing in the creation of social and environmental benefits, a financial return can be gained.

According to Eurosif’s latest study, Impact Investment and Thematic Investments are the fastest growing strategies for sustainable investment, albeit from low levels. On policy level, the winds blow in the same direction. The EU Commission’s Action Plan on sustainable finance contains measures aimed at taking advantage of market mechanisms to effectively steer capital towards the climate transition. And the day it becomes clear what climate measures the money will be spent on, we also get an indication on what kind of companies can benefit from increased demand. Two sides of the same coin, and across asset classes.

Through a series of seminars and roundtables, Swesif will highlight this trend from different perspectives. What are the starting points and the drivers? What solutions are available? What are the challenges?

Warm welcome to the first setting-the-scene-seminar, where you will meet:
